Winter Fashion Trends for 2022

Winter may not always be the most fashionable season, but picking up a few of these items may make you change your mind this time around. Outside of New Year’s and holiday ensembles, it’s tough not to fall into a habit of wearing the same dark-wash jeans and gray cashmere sweaters day in and day out. But this year, we’re itching to add a little extra flair to our cold-weather ensembles, and thanks to Pinterest and Lyst, we’re well on our way. These are eight winter fashion trends to be aware of if you’re looking to update your wardrobe:

1. Colors That Pop

Normally, throughout the winter, we become stuck in a dreary color rut, but not this time. On Pinterest and Lyst, searches for cold winter designs with a punch in vibrant hues like hot pink, violet, lime green, or red have increased significantly. If you don’t want to wear them from head to toe, consider adding a splash of color to your outfit, such as a bright yellow sweater layered over your favorite jeans.

2. Shakets

For years, we adored the shacket (a long-sleeved combo), but as we approach 2022, things are changing. While traditional wool common things will always hold a special place in our hearts, other materials such as velvet and shearling are also on the upswing, so you can be sure there’s a shacket out there that will go with your current look.

3. Pants Made of Leather

Faux-leather leggings have been a winter favorite for years, but this year it’s all about faux-leather trousers. The most popular styles have straight legs and are available in black or vibrant colors like red or olive green. These imitate rockstar vibes, pair them with elegant staples like a slim-fit crewneck sweater or button-up shirt.

4. High-Knee Boots

Knee-high boots are also trending. To add 2 additional agents to the mix, pair them with a light jacket and narrow pants or trousers, or even skirts.

5. Retro Skiwear

Waist-cinching belts, bright color blocking, and high-collared puffers aren’t just for ’80s themed gatherings anymore. On and off the slopes, vintage ski gear is making a comeback. To avoid looking like you’re wearing an old ensemble, pair your belting puff with some more modern pieces, such as straight-leg snow pants over exaggerated designs or widening jeans instead of stirrup leggings.

6. Sweater-Based Dresses

Sweater dresses will always be one of our favorite ways to combine comfort and style, but they’re gaining in appeal as we return to the world after spending so much time at home. This winter, loose and flowy silhouettes are more in-style than baggier clothes we’ve seen in the past. What’s the trick to making them look fashionable rather than dowdy? Place a narrow belt around your waist and keep your accessories basic and simple.

7. Feathers

Textures, rather than designs and patterns, are the key to adding depth to your wardrobe this winter. Feathers, shearling, embellishments, and thick knitting are all delightful, but so are croc-embossed scales and raised woodgrain effects. This is a great trend for people who prefer neutral clothing colors but are always looking for a new way to mix things up without going too far out of their comfort zone.

8. Hoodies With a Blanket (Our favorite)

Are you looking for a fresh method to relax? Wrap yourself in a blanket hoodie for extra warmth. They can keep you warm, comfy, and looking cool. On a busy day of work, everyone has an outfit to look forward to. You could get one for yourself or as a gift for a difficult-to-shop-for person.
